Continental were conspicuous in thier absence of gigantic pieces of rubber to fill the fat bike and plus size market, instead the old favourites were on show and the new Baron Projekt 2.4 was the flagship launch for the brand. The new tyre is going to be in shops any day from now and will be retailing at €74 each. As a launch promotion there is a limited edition mudguard shipping with the first batch of tyres, so get in there quick if you want a useful piece of history with winter approaching.
The new tyre will be available in 26, 27.5 and 29 inch versions.
Billed as a heavy duty enduro tyre the focus has been on preventing punctures rather than shaving weight. Each tyre comes in at 980 grams and features the tired and tested Black Chilli compound to offer superb grip as well as the Protection Apex sidewall which prevents pinch flats, adds stability and guards against cuts to the sidewall. Running these tubeless you should find you enjoy a relatively puncture free ride, which will appeal to the racers out there looking for a tyre they can trust.
