Châtel is not your normal stylish Slopestyle event full of elegance and flowing moves. The numerous massive obstacles carved in to the mountain face mean riders are in a constant battle to keep their bikes on track. After some early morning weather warnings and rain the event seemed to get off to a slow start but as soon as the riders hit the trail – things got real!

First place went to Brandon Semenuk, a well-deserved victory. Brandon absolutely hooned it down the mountain, only just managing to keep his bike under him at times but his brave lines and massive air tricks including a backflip of the massive step-down meant there could be no other winner.

Saying that, Cam Zink, last years winner, came incredibly close and although he completed the course in a bit more grace than Brandon. Cam pulled of a huge flip nac-nac but missed the pedal on the landing. Over all a very impressive run that also could have been first place without the struggling on the last landing.

Kyle Strait conquered the 300m altitude drop down the mountain face with a lot of commitment. Kyle completed his run with a massive Superman off the final kicker. Impressing the judges with his line, technical skills and originality he leaves the event with third place.
