It’s always immensely tough to come to terms with the loss of someone so prominent, whether it be from our personal lives or from the sport we love. When Kelly McGarry passed away suddenly from a cardiac arrest in February it didn’t seem right that someone who risked so much on a regular basis should be taken this way. But the immense talent, dedication and passion that McGarry put into his life has at least left us with some of the greatest of MTB memories.
“On Monday, February 1st, 2016, professional mountain biker Kelly McGarry passed away as a result of sudden cardiac arrest while riding his bike on a remote trail in his home country of New Zealand. Peaking: Rampage | 72 Hours With Kelly McGarry, filmed in October of 2015, is an intimate portrait of legendary mountain biker, Kelly ‘McGazza’ McGarry, shot over 72 hours during his final competitive event – the 2015 Red Bull Rampage.”
