The 2012 Halo British Downhill Series kickstarts this weekend at Combe Sydenham down in Exmoor. With such a gap between the opening round of the World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, and round two in Val di Sole next month expect to see more of your favourite international superstars than ever, battling it out against some of the UK’s finest up and coming talent.

Already confirmed to be taking part are Steve Peat, Josh Bryceland, Brendan Fairclough, Marc Beaumont and the CRC/Nukeproof guys, including last years series winner Al Bond. Meanwhile in the women’s race all eyes are going to be on Manon Carpenter and Rachel Atherton as she makes her racing debut on her new GT Fury.

Combe Sydenham country park is situated on the eastern edge of the Exmoor National Park. The venue was used from 2002 to 2004 for the NPS. The venue is very well signposted from every direction, just follow the directional signs. The venue is accessed off the B3188, between Elworthy and Monksilver The nearest Motorway junction is J25 of the M5 Taunton.
