Launched at the Cycle Show in Birmingham, UK, Kinesis Bikes launched their latest model, the new Rise E-Hardtail. Famous for making great-riding hardtails, the brand have turned their attention to electric power but with a slight twist. This new e-hardtail features a 400W motor in a lightweight (1.38kg) 250Wh battery from the company Fazua. What makes this unique is the ability to completely remove both the battery and the motor and replace it with a blanking plate, thus giving you the option of riding a normal ‘analogue’ bike. Handy huh?

Four sizes will be available, ranging from L1 through to L4. With this sizing it allows them to keep a nice low seat tube, dropper posts with a long drop (170mm on all but the smallest size) and progressive Reach numbers too. With full bikes starting at £3200 in the UK we expect this to be a great hit and can’t wait to get our hands on one for review. Here’s the lowdown from Kinesis themselves:

The capable E-hardtail created for real mountain biking. Born from a British love of the hardtail and coupled with a lightweight Fazua drive system to maintain the fundamental characteristics that make sliding around the woods so fun. A bike to be cornered, jumped, dropped and enjoyed… again and again! Thanks to the lightweight and replaceable battery, the Rise can take your riding to the next level, no matter if you have just one hour or one whole day to get out on the bike. It’s time to do more of what you love…
