The sun was out for the third Verbier E-Bike Festival, which brought together 2’823 participants who came to (re)discover e-MTB on one of the 500 e-bikes brought in for the event. The industry’s most prominent brands were on-site with their latest e-MTB, e-gravel, and even e-road: Haibike, Bosch, Lapierre, Ghost, Commencal, Specialized, Trek, Moustache, Flyer, etc.

Thirty-six international riders lined up for the event, recently added to the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar of E-MTB Cross-country Marathon races. After three days of racing in three countries (Switzerland, Italy, France), across 255km and 13,200m of climbing, linking Verbier, Courmayeur, and Les Houches, in the Chamonix valley, the duo Deslandes/Sapin in the women’s and Gilloux/Muller in the men’s were the winners. At the end of this teams race, the final stop of the E-Bike World Tour, it’s France’s Léa Deslandes in the women’s and Jérôme Gilloux (FRA) in the men’s who take home the series titles and become the first-ever winners of the E-Bike World Tour.

BOSCH E-MTB CHALLENGE

The weekend was rounded out by ‘challenge for all,’ the Bosch e-MTB Challenge, the only Swiss stop in the series. With 150 e-bikers starting, the only Swiss stop in the series was a sell-out! Greta Weithaler (ITA) set the fastest time in the women’s, with Kevin Miquel (FRA) winning the men’s.

The fourth edition is already confirmed for next year on August 11-14, 2022. Until then, e-biking remains in the spotlight in the Valais resort, where the Verbier E-Bike Week-Ends take place Wednesday to Sunday every weekend until September 19 with the option of indulging a little more in the fun of e-biking over a Discovery Route or a Rando Gourmande.
