The Legacy Continues
BMC Introduces All-New Fourstroke Family

– BMC pushes the boundaries of its medal-winning Cross-Country bike collection with the launch of the all-new Fourstroke family.
– The flagship model Fourstroke 01 arrives with the race-defining Autodrop technology, the first ever fully integrated automatic dropper post.
– The premium carbon mountain bike frame has been redesigned from the core across all models, with a redefined geometry, optimized suspension, and added versatility to push the boundaries of mountain biking speed.

The all-new Cross-Country collection arrives on the scene with a line-up including the Fourstroke 01, Fourstroke and Fourstroke LT series.

“We pushed the core features of the Fourstroke to deliver a frame that takes all the elements of its predecessor and advances the capabilities even further,” says Conrad Glassey, Head of Product Management at BMC. “Even before its official launch, this all-new XC racing machine has already won gold for Titouan Carod in Val di Sole.”

Revolutionary DNA

Featuring a revolutionized frame and boundary-pushing capabilities, the Fourstroke family is made from the same core DNA with three distinct personalities.

Fourstroke 01 and Fourstroke are XC performance bikes that exceed the demands of the world’s top racers. They feature the new APS dual-link suspension with 100mm of front and rear travel, in a Premium Carbon frame with integrated protection. Both series are designed around the progressive BWC geometry, now accommodating two water bottles in the front triangle for long-distance missions. Exclusive to the 01 series, the all-new Autodrop technology is the race-proven advantage for every rider and an industry first.

Third in line, the Fourstroke LT is a bike designed for riders who want even more performance. Offering trail-racing at XC speed with 120mm of the updated APS dual-link suspension travel and BWC geometry, the Fourstroke LT arrives in a full-carbon frame that fits two water bottles, integrated fork stopper and frame protection.

Stefan Christ, Head of R&D at BMC gives insight into the processes that created the all-new Cross-Country family: “Each model satisfies the demands of different rider types whilst sharing the same medal-winning frame redesigned from the ground with revolutionary core elements: an all-new suspension system, updated geometry, and improved design to fit two bottle cages.”

Autodrop Technology

The brand-new BMC Autodrop provides the 01 series with the first ever fully integrated, automatic dropper post. This revolutionary technology enables on-the-fly and squat-free seatpost dropping to push further faster. The peerless technology eliminates the need to squat to lower the saddle with its intuitive two-position adjustment, allowing riders to pedal longer before hitting a downhill section. The result? More speed, improved lap times and less fatigue for a race-defining split-second advantage.

“During a race, we activate Autodrop up to a hundred times allowing us to focus entirely on the track and giving us the gold-medal-winning advantage.” Titouan Carod, BMC MTB Racing Team.
Redefined Capabilities
More traction equals more speed. The updated Advanced Pivot Suspension System features next-level kinematics and best-in-class suspension performance designed to deliver full traction and great efficiency on every terrain. Resulting in faster times, this new and improved full-feature suspension system finds no match on the race-course.

“Extensive testing shows that the Fourstroke and APS suspension are faster than lighter bikes with weight-saving suspension systems. This proves that superior traction and pedalling efficiency are more important than weight” explains Stefan Christ, Head of R&D at BMC.

The next evolution of Big Wheel Concept Race technology pushes XCO geometry further with progressive refinements to improve the rider’s position for better power transfer and traction on steep terrain, while equally expanding the descending capabilities. The improved 66.5˚ head angle and a long front end are tailored to a fast and progressive racing style designed to attack the steepest and loosest courses with ease. The 429mm short chainstays deliver power with proven traction on most technical sections, with the lowered bottom bracket and a steep 76.7˚ seat angle providing perfect weight distribution and handling.

Design Boost

These medal-winning marathon machines are versatile by design. The Fourstroke 01, Fourstroke, and Fourstroke LT all feature a re-design to accommodate two water bottles on side-entry bottle cages in the main triangle without compromising performance and functionality.

“We took note of the feedback from our athletes to expand the scope of the frame to multi-day events. Fitting two water bottles was a no-brainer, but it led to rethinking the whole frame.” Conrad Glassey, Head of Product Management at BMC.

The Fourstroke family is made for unparalleled power delivery with a redesigned chassis and rear triangle to excel in torsional and bottom bracket stiffness. The rear triangle now features a second vertical strout, helping to deliver a 20% increase in pedalling stiffness. This unparalleled performance leap pushes one of the most successful XC bikes on the scene to a new level.

The internal cable routing is guided through the front triangle, lower link and rear triangle, making service intervals for the Fourstroke family a breeze. Allowing you to go far, the models offer a tire clearance of 62 mm to fit modern 2.4” XC tires. An integrated fork stopper, molded chainstay protector and the lower link mud flap protect the frame for improved durability. The 01 series additionally feature a custom port on the seat tube to provide easy access for Autodrop maintenance.
