At Rampage 2014, we witnessed a man who’s spirit epitomizes the quintessential freerider — as gutsy as he is skilled and creative — Andreu Lacondeguy finally landed on the top spot, breaking a streak of three consecutive fourth-place finishes at freeride’s premier big mountain contest.
The Spaniard with a huge personality finally broke the string of non-podium finishes to score mountain biking’s biggest prize, winning Rampage with a line that showcased his ability to transcend bicycle disciplines. Blending big mountain freeriding with moto whips, hips and a slopestyle-inspired flatspin 360, Lacondeguy handily took home an inspired win.
