Next week, the London Bike Show will play host to the biggest freestyle MTB competition ever seen in the UK, Air to the Throne.

Launched at the London Bike Show in 2016, the competition will be classified as a Silver FMB World Tour event in 2017, meaning points, as well as a large prize fund will be on the line.

40 of the world’s best FMB riders will descend on ExCel, London between 16th – 19th February, where they’ll be faced with a huge course. Riders will be hoping to take home a share of the €10,000 prize pot, FMB World Tour points and the coveted Air to the Throne trophy.

The exclusive invite only event features a number of the world’s best riders including current FMB Diamond Series No.1 and defending Air to the Throne champion Nicholi Rogatkin, who will be looking to start 2017 with a bang and retain his title, Diamond Series No.6 Mehdi Gani (FRA), Diamond Series No.13 Diego Caverzasi (ITA), recently crowned White Style Champion and Diamond Series No.14 Torquato Testa and GB’s Diamond Series No.19 Matt Jones. With a really strong rider line-up confirmed, it’s clear that this year’s event will be one to remember. See the provisional rider list below.

The 2016 competition saw a spectacular event with crowds stunned by the complexity and flow of the best runs and 2017 promises to be next level. With mix of seasoned MTB spectators, people new to the sport and families out for a good time, it’s easy to see why the riders are so keen to push their limits and entertain existing and potential new fans.

The main competition will take place 18th – 19th February will see MTB riders joined by BMX riders Scott Hamlin and James Jones testing out the course and putting on demos to warm up the crowd. Seb Hejna and James Thorne will be on the mic with Kirsty Harper on the decks providing the soundtrack.
