Many races try, but very few succeed to do what the DMREx has done. Gently, almost covertly, the race has gained a reputation as one of the best in the UK, and probably the world. This year was the second edition of the blind racing, multi-day enduro based in the outstanding Exmoor National Park. Entries were gone in a blink of an eye, and with only 80 places, this is a seriously exclusive event, but at the same time accessible, friendly and supportive.

With 3 days riding with 20 timed stages, it’s a big course, though there is a little uplift at the start of each day to get things going. The secret to the success of the event is a combination of passionate people who understand that riding and racing are more than the sum of stage times or the quality of the turns (which is very high). More than just racing, this is an experience, with food, drink and good times all on tap. Vintage tea room feed stations, beer hand-ups mid-ride and trails of achingly high quality combine to make a truly great 3 days of bikes. If only the Ex team could organise all my weekends!

Thanks to Mike, Paul, DMR and the team for a fantastic weekend!

The EX Enduro is a three-day enduro mountain bike event like no other in the UK, created in collaboration with DMR Bikes.

The 2017 event happened on the 14 – 17 September and was won by Jono Jones. Just 80 riders challenged themselves to three unforgettable days of mountain biking. More than just a race, The EX is an adventure filled with punishing climbs, beautiful singletrack and stunning descents on some of the least ridden trails in the country.
