Crankworx is much more than “just” a festival where visitors can watch the world’s best mountain bikers in action. Throughout the five-day event there will be lots of side events going on at the festival site such as workshops, challenges and signing sessions. And as the sun slowly sets over Bikepark Innsbruck, things are just warming up down in Innsbruck with sick DJ sets, fat beats and cool drinks in some of the city’s most famous party locations.

The third edition of Crankworx Innsbruck, the only European stop of the Crankworx World Tour 2019, is set to feature not only an action-packed sporting programme but also a whole host of side events as well as an Expo Area and a Demo Area plus a fleet of foodtrucks serving different kinds of food.

“Each year we try to make Crankworx Innsbruck and its side events even better and to create even more festival flair. This year we will be offering a mix of tried-and-tested classics and totally new side events. The same goes for the parties in the evening: a mixture of fan favourites and new features. In both cases it is very important to us to work closely with regional partners and the local mountain bike community,” explains Georg Spazier, head of the Crankworx Innsbruck local organising team.

The countdown is on with just 23 days to go until the world’s biggest gravity mountain biking festival touches down in Innsbruck once again. Visitors can already whet their appetite taking a look at the contests, parties and side events set to feature at this year’s edition.

The side events at Crankworx Innsbruck 2019 get underway with the Girls Ride with a Pro Session powered by OutdoorChicks. This workshop is aimed at female riders who already have a little bit of experience riding the trails. Former downhill world champion Leigh Donovan and the OutdoorChicks will be on hand to give participants lots of useful tricks and tips on the bike. Girls only!

The sporting action begins with the Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by SPANK. This fun contest with a party vibe invites the stars of the scene to show off their sideways style over a pair of huge kickers high above the city of Innsbruck.

Just as much fun but certainly not as stylish is the LINES Bike Pulling. This side event sees two riders on a pair of old city bikes like the one your grandma used to ride take on each other in a head-to-head drag race while pulling 50 kilos of LINES Magazines behind them. The first one to the finish line wins. Laughs, thrills and a few spills are guaranteed!

The place to be in the evening is the p.m.k club in the city featuring Reggaeworx 2019 powered by YA MAN! Agency with Cali P, the Lyrical Faya live on stage. Tickets for the best vibes in town are €15 at the door.

Day two brings double trouble with the pro final of the first ever 100% Dual Slalom at Crankworx Innsbruck followed by the final runs of the RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge.

Before the pros hit the courses, there is plenty of time for amateur riders to learn from the experts at the Tech Workshop powered by SRAM (Brakes & Drivetrain). After finding out from some of the top tech wizards in the bike business how to set up your brakes and drivetrain, check out the Mobility Session for Bikers powered by BASEFIVE to discover a few cool exercises that will help you improve your flexibility, mobility and stability.

Elevation is the name of the game at the BunnyHop Contest powered by #MTBInnsbruck. Riders will be asked to bunny hop their bike over a pole after taking a run-up of no more than three metres. The winner is the rider who performs the highest bunny hop.

Once the Pump Track Challenge final is over and evening comes, it’s time to head for Jimmy’s in the heart of downtown Innsbruck where #MTBInnsbruck and djPHILIPS will be getting the party started from 10pm with an eclectic mixture of indie, electro, hip-hop and plenty more. Admission is free.

At Become a Knight powered by Mons Royale the festival area will be transformed into one huge battle arena where riders are invited to clamber onto their trusty steeds and duke it out for the title of Royal Rider of Innsbruck.

After that there is the Tech Workshop powered by RockShox (Suspension), where mechanics from some of the world’s top bike manufacturers will explain how to set up your suspension to get the most out of your bike.

In the evening it’s once again time to slip off that Crankworx T-shirt and put on your dancing shoes ready for the Mons Royale Speed & Style After Party at Kater Noster. Free admission, good vibes, cool drinks and electronic beats are guaranteed.

The Women of Crankworx Autograph Session offers autograph hunters a unique opportunity to grab a personal souvenir from some of the world’s top female riders. Don’t miss out on the chance to get close to the stars, grab an autograph and maybe the odd high-five!
