Oisin O’Callaghan Stays With YT Industries

We just came across this video of Oisin O’Callaghan riding his YT in the Les Houches Bikepark, hinting he will still race for the direct sales brand in 2022. After the break up of the YT Mob it was uncertain what would be next for the young Irish rider.

We reached out to his father Chris a while ago who mentioned that although the Mob is no more, his son would still continue racing on the YT Industries bikes. If you’ve seen his instagram feed, you know he is training harder than ever, after redoing his entire home gym setup, and he is eager to make his debut in the Elite Men category in 2022.

The news is official from today, with YT Industries lifting the embargo on this with a press release:

A video released by YT Industries in cooperation with FOX Factory reveals that
the 2020 Junior UCI Downhill World Champion Oisin O’Callaghan will continue to work together with
the direct sales brand in 2022. The young Irish downhill racer is making the most of the offseason
in preparation for the upcoming Downhill World Cup.

Oisin O’Callaghan’s dream of becoming a professional downhill mountain bike racer took a big step
towards becoming reality in 2019. The then 16-year-old took part in the MOB World Tour where he
showcased his skill, talent, and dedication during a camp hosted in Fort William. A few months later
Oisin was preparing for his first Junior World Cup season after joining the YT Mob.

Throughout the next couple of years, Oisin would achieve multiple World Cup wins and claim the rainbow stripes to
become Junior World Champion. “I have learned so much in my first two years with the YT Mob and I
have to thank Martin Whiteley and my fellow teammates for all the insight and support on the circuit
since joining them after the Mob World Tour in 2019,” Oisin reflects.

Preparation is key – Growth over Gold

The preparation for the upcoming season is well underway. Oisin has completed a training camp with
Fit4Racing in the Lake District, England, in order to fine-tune and adjust his training regimen for the
upcoming season premiering in the Elite category of racing.

Focusing on growth rather than podiums and points is a key goal for Oisin this coming year. “I am continuing to work with YT for the next few years. We have built a great relationship with the folks at YT, which I value a lot. An official team
announcement is still to follow, but in 2022 I will be joining a race program led by Erik Irmisch.

Irm has a proven track record of running a team successfully, loads of race and testing experience being part
of YT’s R&D team, and is an all-round good guy, that I trust. I get on very well with the TUES and the
bike has seen its fair share of success too. I look forward to racing the World Cup this year and to
concentrating on growing into becoming a consistent Elite rider.”

Oisin’s race season kicks off with the first World Cup of the season to be held in Lourdes, France, at
the end of March.
