The Rally FR Elbow Pads from Race Face for 2012 have been trimmed down a little at the top of the guard over last years model. Like the matching knee and shin guards the workmanship is sublime and the pads ooze quality.

There is plenty of padding behind the plastic armour and this ensures a very comfortable pad. Three Velcro straps secure it to your forearm and there is a thin Lycra section where your arm beds to stop any chaffing.

They feel very secure on your arm and our biggest complaint with elbow pads is them slipping while you ride, especially on long alpine descents. This often detracts from the job in hand and is at best frustrating; at worse it can leave you with an injury. The Rally FR however stayed securely in place the whole time and didn’t move at all. Which made them an instant hit with us!

They aren’t the cheapest elbow pads on the market at £49.99 but they do offer a very high level of comfort and protection.
