SCHWALBE MTB Marathon Series 2013

The first round of the SCHWALBE MTB-Marathon Series powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport is only a little more than a month away!

The 1st round will be based at the Royal Welsh Showground, in the birthplace of MTB-Marathons, Builth Wells and will take place on the 13-14th April 2013.

As in the last few years the season opener will start with the Exposure Lights Big Night Out Marathon.

An approx. 44km long course is waiting for the riders which will be ridden pretty much entirely at night. The “ELBNO” makes for a very atmospheric start to the series and is, for many riders, the highlight of their spring/summer riding season.

The route for the 2013 ELbBNO starts at the Royal Welsh Showground beginning with a 7km stretch on the road before you hit the trails. After a not too technical climb you get to the tricky and challenging sheep path single-tracks across the hill. The route crosses both Llanbedr and Aberedw Hills, taking in the very best single-track descents to give you a fantastic night riding experience. Half way round you’ll find the feed station serving hot and cold drinks, bananas and cake! The second half of the ride just gets better and better, more single-track climbs and descents taking you back to Builth and a well deserved cuppa.

If you are thinking of doing the double (night marathon on Saturday evening and day marathon on Sunday) then don’t worry about doing the same course twice. The majority, if not the entire ELBNO, course will be night marathon specific so that you can get an action packed riding weekend showing you the best trails the area has to offer.

You can find full details included signing on opening times, start times and other useful tips on the Builth Wells event page.

Get your entries in soon though, as it is filling up fast! For all the details please go to our online entry on the MTB-Marathon website.
