Editorial Team – IMB Magazine

1. Web Content Journalist – Part Time

2-3 hours per day working on the website ensuring we get the best quality content on the site. The hours do not have to be consecutive, but they have to be on a per day basis. This is a self-employed, home-based role. You will be part of a remote team, but free to work your own hours at a location of your choosing.

Tasks:

  • Posting daily videos with unique descriptions that are fed from our NewsCore Platform.
  • Finding new channels and videos to add to the website and the NewsCore Platform.
  • Posting press releases from brands, events and other outlets onto the website.
  • Ensuring the Facebook and Twitter feeds are active and have engaging content.
  • Coming up with new ideas for web features and news posts to increase interest and traffic to the site.

Skills Required:

  • Self motivated, hard-working, reliable and trustworthy
  • Computer literacy and access to a computer and high speed Internet is essential
  • Excellent creative writing skills
  • Excellent English grammar and spelling ability
  • Solid understanding of Social Media
  • Experience with WordPress
  • Experience posting to Facebook Pages
  • Be able to work alone, but as part of a remote team.
  • Passion for all things MTB
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Skills Useful:

  • Solid MTB skills (no need to be Gee Atherton, but the ability to ride a bike reasonably well is preferred).
  • Interest in bikes and bike testing, as well as components and component testing.
  • Social Media marketing experience.

2. Features Editor – Part Time

Your role will be to seek out new and engaging content for the world’s fastest growing and most widely read MTB Magazine.

Tasks

  • Coming up with new and interesting ideas for articles.
  • Keeping in regular contact with contributors around the world to source new and exciting stories.
  • Interviewing riders, film producers and photographers.
  • Ensuring the content in IMB remains diverse and world class.
  • Proof-reading contributor articles and selecting images to be sent to designers.
  • Liaising with designers and proofing completed articles before publication.
  • Over-seeing future magazine issues through to completion.
  • Liaise with Advertising and Editorial team to arrange test bikes and products for review.

Skills Required

  • Self motivated, hard-working, reliable and trustworthy
  • Computer literacy and access to a computer and high speed Internet is essential
  • Excellent creative writing skills
  • Excellent English grammar and spelling ability
  • Solid understanding of Social Media
  • Understanding of photography, videography and editing.
  • The understanding of International, we are not a UK magazine, and content should reflect that.
  • Ability to communicate with strangers in strange situations, you’re not going to be dumped on Mars, but you might end up on a press camp or two!
  • Must be personable, amicable and willing to get involved.
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of the sport at all levels
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to work alone, but as part of a remote team.
  • Have a passion for all things MTB
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

Skills Useful

  • Solid MTB skills (no need to be Aaron Gwin, but the ability to ride most trails on a bike is essential).
  • Interest in bikes and bike testing, as well as components and component testing.
  • Passion for travelling, meeting new people and broadening your horizons.

Sales Team – Next Element Publishing

1. Advertising Sales Assistant – Full Time

Assist with the Advertising Sales manager to ensure we get our message across to potential advertisers.

Tasks

  • Calling new and existing customers and spreading the good word about IMB, IKSURFMAG and future Next Element titles.
  • Adding new customers to our database.
  • Keeping the database up to date with all your activities.
  • Reporting on a daily and weekly basis to the Advertising Sales Manager.
  • Hitting and exceeding targets set.
  • Emailing potential new advertisers and following up with phone calls.
  • Emailing existing advertisers to get new adverts ahead of each new issue.
  • Liaising with editorial team and clients regarding test equipment for review.
  • Ensuring the Ad Manager program is kept up-to-date with correct contact details.

Skills Required

  • Solid knowledge of sales and sales techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone and face to face manner.
  • Ability to close a deal.
  • Understanding of publishing and advertising sales.
  • Ability to work to deadline.
  • Self motivated, hard-working, reliable and trustworthy.
  • Computer literacy and access to a computer and high speed Internet is essential.
  • Ability to deal with people who may not speak English as their first language.
  • Have a methodical and organised approach to work.
  • Be able to work alone, but as part of a remote team.
  • Fluent spoken and written English with good grammar.

Skills Useful

  • Ability to kitesurf, mountain bike or any freesport preferred, but not essential. Having an interest in these sports will assist you in this role however.
