We all know that riders need support at big races, but very rarely do we get to see behind the scenes, for Specialized bike’s Stage 5 update from the ABSA Cape Epic, we are being given exactly that chance!
At the Absa Cape Epic, there’re two races occurring simultaneously—the race for the riders, and the race for the support crew. For our racers, Stage 5’s 117km and 2500m of climbing will be brutal, but as we’ll find out, the job of the crew is just as difficult. Soigneurs, masseuses, mechanics, drivers—providing the support needed to get the riders over the line first is never easy, which is why this episode shines a spotlight on the unsung heroes that work behind the scenes.
