I chose this bike as my do-it-all machine for the year, I got to ride last years bike at the Megavalanche and round Scotland very briefly and agreed with our test teams verdict that it really is a do it all machine. I had a DH bike with me for the Alps trip last year, but ended up just riding the Covert as it felt so nimble and capable no matter what you threw at it.

I have the lower specced Covert 2 which comes with the awesome Rock Shox Lyric RC2P fork. This fork has really impressed me so far, ridiculously plush and just works really well on the trails. It never seems to bog down and feels better than any Fox fork I have had in the past. The guys at Rock Shox have come up with a real blinder here. I went for the Covert 2 so I could upgrade a few bits and adapt the bike over the next few months. The standard spec is all very good however, SRAM X7 drivetrain in the most part, with Avid Elixir 7 brakes taking control with 180mm rotors front and rear.

The 740mm wide bars and 60mm stem will no doubt get lengthened and shortened respectively and I have already fitted a KS Pure Racing dropper post to the bike.

Nimble, fast, planted, all attributes this bike has making it my choice for 2012.

Keep an eye out on the website for more updates on this awesome machine.

His first mountain bike was a Trek 820, which he bought in 1990. It didn’t take him long to earn himself a trip to the hospital on it, and he’s never looked back since. These days he’s keeping it rubber side down, riding locally and overseas as much as possible.
