Shimano 1,149,372

While these might look like a pair of school shoes, once you are on the bike their functionality becomes clear. These are the ultimate winter biking shoes if you ride flats; the Velcro lace cover does a great job of keeping a fair amount of water out of the shoe and also keeping your laces crud free. The sole is made for Shimano exclusively by Vibram and it is designed to give the maximum amount of grip, durability and “stickiness” in terms of the compound.

On the bike these shoes feel fantastic, there is plenty of grip and the stiff sole allows you to really get pedalling. You don’t feel any loss of transfer through the power stroke. The Vibram R sole has a unique pattern that grips the pins on the flat pedals well for a solid connection. The Velcro tongue guard keeps the worst of the water out and coupled with some waterproof socks you should keep dry all winter.

A great shoe from Shimano, what it lacks in the looks department it makes up for in functionality, these will be on our feet for the rest of the winter!
