Are you ready to shred and be shredded? The EX presented by DMRBikes is a three day mountain bike enduro to take place in the north east corner of Exmoor. The area offers a sheer endless network of tracks and trails which provide the perfect setup for the new event. On the 16-18th September 2016 a maximum of 80 riders will pitch up in our event village in Allerford (between Minehead and Porlock) and will be served some of the best riding the South West has to offer.

Here are the details of THE EX (all of this is included in the entry fee):
• Three days riding (Friday start around 12noon, Saturday all ‘dayer’, Sunday finish mid afternoon)
• 4-6 timed gravity special stages each day (dibber timing system)
• Course length 35-45km each day (approx. 2,000m climbing each day)
• Fully marked course
• Uplift every day for an easier start
• Medical cover and marshals at key stations
• On course water stations and vintage tea stop
• Truly scrumptious locally sources and prepared food
• A few Beers etc. on the table (we will make you tipsy but if you want to get drunk you can buy extra from our bar)
• Camping and facilities
• Evening entertainment
• Finishing gift
• Yoga classes (TBC)
• Massage (TBC)
• Strictly limited to 80 riders

The entry fee for THE EX is £250 (plus a handling fee should you enter through our secure online entry – paper entry form available).

The ‘extra’ package:

For an extra £50 we will provide you with a pre-pitched quality tent with sleeping mat and access to a chill out zone with all the trimmings (big carpeted, cushioned, heated, 6m diameter canvas bell-tent).

We only have limited spaces for this package so they will be given out on a first come first served basis. You can add this ‘extra’ package to your event entry in the online entry.

The riding:

The riding in the area is demanding – on the way up as well as on the way down. You will have to work on the ups but boy do you get your ‘rewards’ on the way down. You will find a great mixture of rocky tracks, demanding route trails, fast flowing single track, some former DH tracks and even some ‘more or less’ purpose build stuff…but don’t expect pristine trail centre trails…this is mountain biking like it used to be. We are aware that 35-45km doesn’t sound much but be assured you will get a full day’s riding for your money and we would be very surprised if you are going to feel short changed in the evening.

We will start every ride with an uplift which will give everybody a helping hand but also divide the 80 riders into two starting groups which will ease possible queues at the start of our special stages. We will number set start order at the special stages and will start riders in set intervals.

Some trails will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event but we will try to keep as much secret as we can to keep the level of surprise as high as possible and also to keep the trails as pristine as possible for the event. Some of the trails are run on private land which we only have permission to use in the event and as we have intentions to run this event for many years to come we want to respect the demands of the various land owner to the ‘T’.

The categories:

THE EX presented by DMRBIKES has a male and a female category as well as a hardtail category. With DMR producing some of the finest trail hardtails (see Trailstar) around we wanted to incorporate that into our event.

We all love watching great mountain bike videos and we love watching them even more if the riding shots are fantastic and we might even find ourselves being the start of the show. So every day we will have a dedicated video crew being out on course trying to capture the vibe of the event. Their aim is to create a little video diary which we will be sending out to the various mountain bike websites, put it up on our website and social media channels (for friends and family to enjoy) and make it viewable in the evening in our event cinema. So make sure you bring your smile and your ‘bestest’ mountain biking moves.

What The Press Said

“Exmoor has some truly fantastic trails, and these are some of the best that Exmoor has to offer, tied into a tried and tested racing format. From hyperspeed open sections through to slow speed techy switchback stages – all linked up with monster climbs – you’ll need to be on top of your game for this one.”

– Barney Marsh – Singletrack Magazine

“Great trails, great scenery and great fun. I had a blast at THE EX and can’t wait to get back for the main event in 2016!”

– Jamie Edwards – Editor Wide Open Magazine

“I had an incredible time racing and riding on the awesome, challenging and very surprising trails Exmoor has to offer. I really look forward to participating in next years EX. It will be a top priority diary entry for my 2016 season.”

– Jim Buchanan – Editor Enduro Magazine

“We were lucky enough to be invited to a sneak preview of the DMR THE EX; a brand new 3 day Enduro in Exmoor in the South West of England and try out the new DMR Trailstar whilst we were at it! Over 2 days we rode the finest trails Exmoor has to offer, all washed down with copious amounts of tea and cake. Exmoor is a true hidden gem, with a vast variety of trails from open rocky moorland to tight and twisty forest loam, all only a couple of miles from the sea. Each day we were treated to a bit of vehicle uplift to get things going and maximise descending on 4 to 5 special stages throughout the day finishing back at camp for BBQ and beers. The mix of quality trails and excellent hospitality was fantastic, it’s definitely on my ‘to do list’ of races for next year.”

– Ewen Turner – IMB (International Mountainbike Magazine)
