What it sounds like to snap your Achilles’ tendon on the landing 💩
My 3rd run having so much fun, I sent the Long Jump & jumped furthest out of the Women! 🤘 then 30 seconds later Cased the finish jump & that was my season OVER!!
From long jump to short jump 😂
I didn’t know weather to post this as it’s quite emotional & a bit grim, but I’m posting it now! Thanks to John for helping me out xx @gopro @goprouk #gopro #goproathlete #achillesrupture
As suspected I’ve completely torn my Achilles Tendon! So it’s Surgery today to fix it!
Couldn’t be more different to this day exactly a week ago! 😩

About Today: it was INSANE!!!!!!!!
Crazy racing all the girls pushing so hard, Tracey sent it so fast but crashed right st the finish :-( Nina crashed & lost a show!! Marine sent it so fast! Emi sent it... Vero sent it... Eleonora sent it...!!
The track was so insanely hard deep in dust & blown up with big holes & just savage, I knew after I qualified 3rd I would have to dig deep .... pushing to the edge of the limit but not over that limit....
I was changing stuff EVERY practice run, trying all sorts to get comfortable on such a wild track, race day 2 practice runs still changing settings & rebound making a huge difference in the heat... & even dropping my forks thru by 3mm more - huge improvement! Last practice run I suddenly had the answer... my brake levers were not in the right position and I couldn’t ride very aggressively with my arms..... well that change made a huge difference! (Try it and see!) Even after so long racing I still can’t get my brake levers in the right position 😂😂😂
So big thank you to @marekufnal @cordijortes for putting up with my mental shite every run & @tomlloyd123 @athertonracing for mopping up my puke cos I was so nervous I puke a lot 😂😂😂 Ant from @dyfibikepark @Dyfi_diggers with the gnar horns @porosa @millejohnset dinner date!
This is just a huge massive honour to win my 39th World Cup on our @athertonbikes 😍! 🤯🤮💥🤪🥳🤘🚲🤘🚲🤘🚲🤘🚲🤘🚲🤘🚲🤘
@svenmartinphoto braving the dust & heat to bring the photos to life.... 💥💥💥💥💥💥👌 @ Andorra, Vall Nord

This was INSANE!! Crazy racing on a savage track!! @gopro
I wanted to give this some context - for the last few days I have been in such a stressed out mood - exhausted & wanting to cry all the time, too tired to train, too tired to do anything normal, unable to ride as my hand is painful, and generally stressed out by the smallest of things: today I made myself get out and do something fun, to get outside, & get outside of my head & that would give me a bit of an adrenaline kick but also be relaxing!!
we paddle boarded with the dog across to the sand banks and We ran around yelling & waded the estuary, then paddled down for food in the pub - it made me feel alive again! Then I went Home & got an early night & for once didn’t worry about feeling like I had to stay & watch an epic sunset, because that would’ve made me too tired!
I guess what I’m trying to say is that A) instagram makes everything look epic and you don’t know the backstory so don’t think everyone else’s life is better than yours!
B) Get OUTSIDE & MOVE !! Fresh air, sunshine, rain, exercise 👍whatever it is just go outside & move your body for a bit , it lights our natural energy ♥️☀️💪
C) eat CARBS! Feel good 😋
D) listen to your body
Mental health is just as important as physical health & we all feel those super low moments, it’s about recognising your triggers & having a few tools to bring you back to normal again & being honest with yourself . Xxx
Gutted not to be racing the 3rd British National this weekend at Rhyd Y Felin, one of my fave tracks! ☀️🔥My hand is still hurting from my crash at the Leogang World Cup! decided to rest it for a while longer - here’s an @goprouk photo of my hands riding - without them you can’t hold on! 😋😋😋 @ukdownhillseries @gopro @trickstuff_official @renthal_cycling @enduraofficial
Rachel, the youngest Atherton at 23 years old has already achieved global status within the sport.
At only 20 years old, Rach became the first British woman to win the Elite Women UCI Downhill World Championship in June 2008 with an unprecendeted winning margin of 12 seconds. The same year she wrapped up the World Cup Series. Since then she has gone on to win numerous UCI Downhill World Cups and Medals at the World Champs, but injuries have prevented her from defending those titles...the game is now on!
