Absa Cape Epic 2014 “Stage 7“ Highlights Clip

That’t it, it’s finally over! After 7 days of full on racing, 8 if you include the prologue stage the Absa Cape Epic has finally ended! It was another gruelling year for the competitors with thrills and spills every step of the way!

Huge congratulations to our boys Derek Wilson and Dean Camier who after a shaky start with mechanicals pulled things back with regular top ten finishes culminating in a top 5 in class on the last day. In the end they finished 9th in the masters fleet and 73rd overall, not bad for a couple of blokes from Kent!

Final results for the Mens Category Overall looked like this:

1st place: Topeak-Ergon Racing – 8-1 Robert Mennen (GER) / 8-2 Kristian Hynek (CZE) 30:31:59,2

2nd place: Meerendal Songo Specialized – 1-1 Christoph Sauser (SUI) / 1-2 Frantisek Rabon (CZE) 30:42:22,4 +10.23,2

3rd place: Bulls 2 – 4-1 Tim Boehme (GER) / Simon Stiebjahn (GER) 30:45:25,2 +13.26,0

In the Womens Category the Swiss team RECM 2 took the podium with team riders Ariane Kleinhans and Anikka Langvad having a stellar event.
