Inflation time: 1.05 minutes on a 26 inch 2.3 tyre to 26 psi

The smart thing about the Blackburn Mammoth Any Valve, is not the ease on which it can adapt to either a Presta or Schrader valve, but the shape of the ‘t-bar handle’. While a t-bar handle is in no way revolutionary, the handle of the Mammoth is more of an ‘L’ shape, allowing for a much better grip when you’re pumping away, and more importantly stopping you from bashing your knuckles on the barrel. The Any Valve head securely and quickly fits to, you’ve guessed it, any valve so there’s no fiddling about on the side of the trail and you’ll be back riding in no time.

Verdict

A small design change to an old idea made the Blackburn Mammoth Any Valve one of the most popular choices in the group test. A quick inflation time really bumps up its appeal.
