Since first trying these on, the Zoic Sovereign shorts have become a firm favourite. No doubt the bold colours and graphics help them to stand out, but the technical features prove they aren’t just a case of form over function. These are very thin and light shorts, but if you need any more ventilation you’ll find two handy zips on the inside of the legs. The two pockets on the thighs are sealed on to keep the lines nice and tidy, while housing a lens wipe, mp3 stash and headphone slit. Designed with all types of riding in mind, the sovereigns have generous leg openings for kneepads, as well as a simple padded liner, that turned out to be nice and comfy. Velcro pads on the waist help you get a tailored fit and a double button fastening prevents any embarrassment when you lean forwards on your bars.
